Zing! Had Kids Kazooing over Sandy’s Winds
Led by Zamir’s popular conductor Joshua Jacobson, Zing! An interactive children’s concert performed by the Zamir Chorale of Boston at Temple Reyim on Sunday, October 28, entertained over 250 children with Jewish music from Israel and America just hours before Hurricane Sandy hit the Boston area. Chorus members dressed up as Noah, cats, birds, and teddy bears while demonstrating voice parts, call and response singing, rounds and harmony. Free kazoos were given to all children at the end of the program; refreshments were provided by Temple Reyim’s Rosenshine Nursery School.
Zing! was made possible by the Garber Family who commemorated the tenth yahrzeit in October of Lou Garber z”l, an enthusiastic devotee of Jewish music and co-founder of Zamir in 1969 with Josh Jacobson, Zamir’s Artistic Director. Lou was passionate about kids, repairing the world, summers on Nantasket Beach, opening day at Fenway Park, and the local and global Jewish community – present and future.
For all those families who enjoyed Zing!
