The Zamir Chorale of Boston is delighted to show its appreciation and gratitude to Larry and Jill Sandberg. Since 1973, Larry has not only sung tenor but served as a board member; concert, stage, and merchandise manager; and as interim executive director on multiple occasions. Jill, who joined the alto section in 1992, has been a loyal and gracious presence at the merchandise table and has contributed in countless other ways behind the scenes. We owe much of our success to the heartfelt devotion, commitment, and love that Larry and Jill have given over the years, and we are blessed to have them in our Zamir family.
Please note that there is no charge for online tributes. For sponsorship opportunities, see below. Ticket information will be available in March 2022.

Zamir would not be Zamir without Larry. Thanks to Larry, rehearsals and concerts run smoothly. We sound good and we look good. And we don’t make noise turning pages. And Larry provides recordings to ensure that our message is heard far beyond the here and now. And Jill has been a talented and devoted alto in Zamir for many years. From the day we together toured the new(ish) Supreme Court complex in Jerusalem I have valued our friendship, and always look forward to the time we are able to spend together at NAJCF, at HaZamir events, and hanging out in NYC or Boston. Mazal Tov to you both on being honored by the Zamir Chorale of Boston – so well deserved! I’m only sorry I can’t be there to celebrate with you in person – but you know I’ll be there in spirit!

Mazal Tov to you both!!!! Thank you for everything you do for Zamir.
Love, Francine Ferraro Rothkopf
Larry….I could tell, in the early tenor sectional days, that this day would certainly come. It is overdue and well-deserved. And Jill, your passion for choral music is infectious. I love just watching how you sing. You actually FEEL the music. Whether with Zamir, Zachor, or working with Hazamir (and even Safam), the dedication you both bring to the game is unparalleled. Audio, video, uniforms, sheet music, usage permission, recordings, sales, risers, and so much more. Another organization would have many people on those tasks….and they would change every couple of years. The fact that you both have made this a life-long love-affair, with each other AND with the choirs, speaks volumes about the selfless champions that you are. MAZEL TOV!!
Mazal Tov on this richly deserved honor! Your passion for Jewish Choral music and your commitment to its promotion and preservation reach well beyond the borders of Boston. We, in the larger Jewish choral family, join in thanking you and celebrating you both!
With affection and appreciation,
Eleanor and Barry
With great joy, we add our voices in celebration of Jill and Larry Sandberg. We hope to be there with you!’
Renee and Steven Finn
Larry and Jill,
I cannot imagine Zamir without you. In countless ways, you step in and take care of things—how we turn the pages in concert, ensuring the merchandise table is staffed, reaching out to others with a practical tip or a kind word— and by doing so, you make a big impact! Thank you for all you’ve done, and continue to do! May you continue to “break forth into singing” with joy and good health for many years to come.
Mazel tov,
Heather and David
Mazal tov to two extraordinary people–you enhance our lives with beautiful words and delightful music. With abundant gratitude,

From one Alto & Tenor couple to another, we are wishing you both a BIG MAZAL TOV on this well-deserved honor!! We are so sorry we can’t be there in person, but we surely will be there on Zoom to see and hear you receive all the cudos you deserve!! We have so enjoyed your friendship, from helping us from the airport to our hotel in Tel Aviv and later having dinner together on the beach near our hotel, to singing together on our 2018 trip with the ZCF, as well as enjoying your company at all the Choral Festivals we have attended. Cheryl was privileged to give y’all a tour of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, and we both have enjoyed the Zamir Chorale of Boston CDs you so unnecessarily sent us as a “thank you” after that!! Have a wonderful evening later this month, and we can’t wait to see you the next time we meet!!!

Dear Larry and Jill –
Y’shar kochchem for your decades of effort on behalf of Jewish choral music.
Mazal tov!
MAZAL TOV, Jill and Larry!!!
As long as I have known you – which is a VERY long time – you have been the ones giving of yourselves in ways that nobody else can, with unmatched sincerity and passion, to bring out the best and elevate those around you. You are the hearts that beat beneath the surface and the golden thread that keeps it all together. While this is a special night for you – being in the spotlight you usually prepare for others – it is also a special opportunity for all of us who appreciate you to thank you for all you have done to enrich the Zamir Chorale of Boston, the Jewish choral world nationally, and the many offshoots (Zachor, Connie Lecture, etc.) which would not be here without your generosity and dedication. We salute you, thank you, and love you.
With admiration and gratitude-
Herbie
What would Zamir be without Larry Sandberg?
His sound engineer skills and managerial skills have enabled Josh to produce the best quality sound and music for the Chorale.
He has developed a special niche for himself in the organization. Because of Larry Sandberg, the musical quality of Zamir is continuously excellent and remains so to this day.
Everybody in Zamir must surely appreciate that Larry’s efforts and expertise have enabled Zamir to be a quality organization with a great deal to share on an intellectual and emotional level.
Thank you Larry and Thank you Jill for your efforts in merchandising Zamir products.
Larry and I go back many years. I had joined Zamir in the early 70’s and had enjoyed the privilege of becoming a friend as we shared so many wonderful rehearsal and concert experiences. Zamir owes a debt of sincere gratitude to this wonderful person. He has worn many hats over the years and it is partially to his credit that Zamir has continued to endure and thrive. Although I have not had the opportunity to get to know Jill well, I am grateful that your bond with one another has continued to include Zamir as a way to focus your talents and energy alongside one another. Thank you both and Mazel Tov on this occasion in your honor!
Dear Larry and Jill,
You are a very special couple, complementing each other in every way. A giant Mazal Tov on this well deserved honor and appreciation, Larry for the countless ways you contribute to the life of Temple Israel. Best wishes for good health, great music, much happiness and continued success. All the best, Harvey

Larry and Jill
You are the teachers of commitment, dedication and unity. You are Zamir and Zamir is you. May we all learn from your continuous giving and sharing.
Dear Jill and Larry,
Mazal tov on receiving this richly deserved honor. It has been a pleasure to know you since you singing days at Temple Emanu-El, ,Providence. The two of you have worked so hard, with such dedication, , in so many ways, some visible, some not. I will be with you on LiveStream. Thank you for all you have done, are doing, and I hope will continue to do.
Kudos, Yasher Koach, Mazel Tov to Larry and Jill on this honor! New England’s Jewish and musical communities are so much richer for your beautiful participation in them.
And to Larry in particular, thank you for all you have done to support Jewish choral music near and far, over many years. And thank you for your generosity and support over the years of Koleinu, Boston’s Jewish Community Chorus.
May you both continue thrive!
With fond memories of the days when you both sang in the Choir at Temple Emanu-El on the Yamim Noraim, to being members of the chorus when Jill starred in the Purim Spiel, we have enjoyed being part of your PROVIDENCE fan club. Fortunately, we’ve been able to attend many ZAMIR concerts in Boston and Newton, where you always greet us with warm hugs, and we always enjoy the wonderful music! It’s a pleasure to see your happy (and sometimes frazzled) smiles and to know that your dedication to Jewish music has only grown over time.
Best wishes for good health, great music, and happiness in all things. We hope you can continue to share your gifts with others for many more years!
Dianne & Marty Newman
Judy and Sam Greenblatt
Larry and Jill, Much congratulations on this well-deserved honor. You are both so giving–not only to Zamir, but to the people and other musical organizations that perpetuate the values we stand for. Larry–I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your many personal kindnesses, too. They start with your coming to the rescue when my host family ignored me at a Zamir event in Manhattan! When I joined the board, you went out of your way to make me feel welcome–and there’s been so much in between. You know, intuitively, what people need and are feeling and rise to the occasion. Jill–Though I have known Larry longer, I feel so very fortunate that you are in my circle now, too. Looking forward to many more years of us all enjoying celebrations together.
Larry and Jill – how good it is and how pleasant to give a tribute to both of you, for all that you have done with and for Zamir over many years! Chazak chazak v’nitchazek!
Sharon Gillett (aka Sharon E.G.)

Jill and Larry,
There could not have been a more appropriate concert title, “A Better World”, that honors the two of you. Zamir Chorale of Boston is “A Better Chorale” due to the dedicated time you have given to it for all these years — each in your own way. May you enjoy many more years contributing your talents and helping create beautiful music and harmony to the Jewish choral world.
In gratitude for all you do — Mazel tov!
Mazel Tov on your well-deserved honor! Sorry I can’t be with you, but want to thank you for sharing your exceptional talents for so many years.

Larry and Jill: Speaking as someone who experiences Zamir from some 1600 miles away (Miami),
I am indebted to both of you for keeping the Zamir flame going strong! As a former TV producer, I know how essential the support staff is to a performer or group– and that is a role that I know
Larry has filled so well for so many years. And from what I’ve heard, Jill has also been an integral part of the team, both on stage and off.
I am proud to have known Larry even before he was associated with Zamir– from our days at Yavneh, which was essentially the birthplace of the chorus. May you both go “Me Chayil l’Chayil” and continue to make Zamir such a great organization and cultural gem.
Jack “Jackie” Kahn
Dear Larry and Jill,
Many congratulations on your honor. And many thanks for what you do throughout the Jewish community.

Larry & Jill,
You two are SO deserving of this honor!
Both of you have been such an integral part of my life with Zamir. It has been an honor, a privilege, and a joy to share the music, the memories (and the risers!).
Larry – I will never, ever forget you reaching for my hand as we were singing on tour in Eastern Europe, knowing I needed your strength and support to make it through the performance. My eyes still fill with tears even now…….
You both have elevated the importance of Jewish music and community, and I join everyone in thanking you for your passion and dedication.
Much love on this wonderful occasion!
I’ll be tuning in from Chicago!
Love, Helen
